The Scratchwork Manifesto
Value Over Validation™
We've spent enough time inside institutions, boardrooms, startups, corporations, and capital markets to understand how the system works. We've learned from it. Benefited from it. Built within it. But experience teaches an important lesson: the system is not the source of innovation. Innovation happens when someone sees the world differently. It happens when a founder notices a problem others have accepted. It happens when a builder decides that "the way things are" is no longer good enough. Conformity may preserve the status quo, but it has never been responsible for meaningful change.
The people creating the future rarely fit neatly into the present. They ask uncomfortable questions. They challenge assumptions. They see opportunities where others see limitations. And while institutions often reward consensus, customers reward usefulness. Customers don't care about credentials, status, or whether an idea came from the right person in the right room. They care whether someone understands their problem and can help solve it. Value, not validation, is what earns trust.
Scratchwork is a partner for founders building from lived experience. The ones who understand a problem deeply because they've lived it, studied it, or carried it long enough to become obsessed with solving it. We believe expertise doesn't always come from credentials. It often comes from proximity to a problem. And we believe the future belongs to people with the conviction to trust what they've learned and the discipline to prove it with customers.
